LDA Iowa Launches New WebsiteLDA-Iowa's State Coordinator, Kathy Specketer, has been busy this past year, working on our new website with technology specialists from LDA America. The website launched on April 20th. You will notice a new look and new content. Members will still have access to the expanded “members only” section! Lest We ForgetLest We Forget: Did you know that prior to Public Law 94-142 in 1975, students with disabilities were not guaranteed the right to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)? In fact, public schools were allowed to turn away students with disabilities, or if they were allowed to enroll, schools were not required to provide any services or supports. LDA-Iowa has been supporting, educating and advocating for individuals with LD and related disorders since 1968, seven years prior to the passage of PL 94-142.
